2024 Year in Review
A highlight of the activities organized by Muslim Outdoor Adventures in 2024
Alhumdulilah, 2024 has been a transformative year for our hiking community. What began as a small group of friends organizing hikes has evolved into a registered non-profit organization with 3,500 members, marking significant growth from our 2,300 members in 2023. As we reflect on this remarkable year, we’re humbled by the continued enthusiasm and dedication of our community members who have helped us expand not just in numbers, but in the diversity of our outdoor activities and our impact on the community.
Achievements
Major Milestones
Official Non-Profit Registration
One of our most significant achievements this year was officially registering as a non-profit organization. This milestone has opened new doors for our community, allowing us to better serve our members and make a more substantial impact in our charitable initiatives. Registering as an official non-profit org ensures that we are not reliant on just one person for the group’s survival. We have an official governing board, directors and stakeholders beholden to the success of Muslim Outdoor Adventures.
This also means that there is more work involved in running the group now, and some expenses for keeping it registered and in good standing. We appreciate your support in keeping us a non-profit. Digital Transformation
We’ve modernized our approach to event management by moving all our events to our dedicated website. This transition has made our activities more accessible to everyone, whether they use Facebook or not, creating a more inclusive environment for outdoor enthusiasts.
New Activities
This year, we expanded beyond hiking by introducing two exciting new activities:
- Kayaking adventures that have allowed us to explore the beauty of local waterways
- Climbing events that have challenged our members to push their boundaries and develop new skills
- Tree-top trekking, and Skating events
Hiking Highlights
Building on the success of our 2023 Bruce trail hiking trips, we pushed north bound and completed two complete sections. Our community’s enthusiasm for outdoor adventures has only grown stronger, with both experienced members and newcomers participating in these events. Charitable Impact
Our commitment to giving back has strengthened significantly this year. We’re proud to have raised $8,000 for various charitable causes, nearly tripling our contribution from 2023’s $2,900. These funds have supported multiple initiatives throughout the year, making a meaningful difference in communities both locally and globally. We mostly raised funds for Gaza in 2024, both through local charities to support the refugees arriving in Canada, and through international charities to provide aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Looking Forward
As we enter 2025, we’re excited about the continued growth of our community. Our transition to a registered non-profit and the expansion of our activities have laid a strong foundation for the future. We remain committed to fostering connections through outdoor activities while making a positive impact through our charitable initiatives.
